PROJECT 1B | PHASE 1 | Urban Design Project (Site Analysis and Development Proposal)

i) Group students into Five [5] groups. 

ii) Conduct a thorough site visit and investigation – Melaka Tengah, Melaka

iii) Students initiated visit to Local Authority / Melaka State Agencies Office etc. 

iv) Conduct urban design studies involving urban context of the chosen area.

v) Prepare project brief complete with schedule of accommodation, technical studies for the building typologies and all other requirements of the proposed project 


The task involves Five [5] physical and design aspects namely: 

1. Physical Form | Site background, history, present activites, solid-void & figure ground theory, urban morphology, Case Study No: 1 & Proposed Project Brief 

2. Image | Path, edges, districts, nodes, landmarks, etc. , Case Study No. 2 & Proposed Project Brief 

3. Linkage and Surrounding | Sketches, surrounding buildings measurement etc. , Types of construction, materials, services & infrastructure 

4. Issues | GBI, conservation guidelines and authority requirements, climate consideration etc. , Conceptual Master Plan 

5. Preparation of 3D Model | Scale plans, basic drawings (e.g. location plan, site plan) and site photographs etc. , Vegatation within the city area studied
